osu! is primarily played using a mouse to click \'beats\' displayed on-screen in time with the music. This is analogous to tapping the beats on the Nintendo DS screen with a stylus. At the top of the screen, a health bar is present, which is constantly drained. If the player hits or clears a beat, the health meter at the top of the screen fills slightly. If he misses a beat, a large part of the meter is drained, and if it gets completely empty, he fails the song. There are three types of beats in the game: Hit circles, sliders and spinners. Every time the player hits a hit circle or an end circle, touch a slider tick, or clear a spinner, the combo is raised by 1. If he misses any of the above, the combo is reset back to 0.

So, a completely free music rhythm game! Usually played with either a mouse or a graphic tablet to control the cursor. You can click or tap with those, or use two keys from your keyboard to use instead of clicking. When the songs get fast enough or you\'re playing with a 1.5x tempo mod on, believe me not many can handle them with mouse-only playstyle :D

The most fun game I\'ve played in years to be honest. Contains a ton a of beatmaps, which are essentially the songs you play with someone\'s manually planned and made mapping of beats in different ways. Everyone can make their own beatmaps with the editor that is provided in the game client itself.

You can also make your own skin, or download from a collection of skins made by others, which will affect how the menus and the game\'s interface looks while playing. This can make it a lot more fun when you can decide which kind of cursor you want to use or what cute picture appears everytime you pass a certain part of a beatmap.

Regarding the beatmaps: When someone makes a beatmap and publishes it on the website, they can be downloaded by everyone but they won\'t have an online scoreboard for them. They need to be ranked first. This is done with some moderators, map assistant people\'s help. Anyone can help correct \"mistakes\" in the mapping and then someone higher up will come at some point and say that it\'s polished enough and rank it. Then it\'ll have an online scoreboard where people can be amazed by the best players\' performances and the rest of us can wonder why we\'re still in the lower #500 spots.
All kinds of music can be found, and anime OP\'s aand ED\'s are certainly popular.

Oh, and there\'s multiplayer which can be played by up to 8 players, either all of them competing head-to-head or in tag where everyone plays just some parts of the song. You click the first 8 notes, I click the next 6, the next one clicks the next 15 etc. And the room can be divided in two teams also. If anyone wants to play multi, I can be poked on here or in-game. :)

Links: Home page. List of beatmaps.. You can search for your favourites. Skins can be found there, with this outdated thread containing a whole bunch of them for a good starter for anyone. My profile because asdfjkö.

Finally some replays. A couple of good ones and one of mine. Because asdfjkö.
Cookiezi has dominated the game since 2010, basically.

A mouse-only play for you~
